-Stem branched from the base, branches recumbent, rigid and spread-out.
-Leaves alternate, elliptical or linear -oblong, alternate at base, with one prominent vein.
-Flowers purple, frequently whitish, isolated,within the axis of the leaves. Petals 5-6 mm.
-Fruits contain numerous seeds, surrounded by very short oblong calyx.
