- Leaves: lower opposite, upper alternate, ovate-lanceolate, dentate, rounded or cordate at base, with petiole 2-5 mm long.

- Flowers pink with 4 bifid petals, in loose racemes; stigma with 4 lobes.

- Fruit: linear capsule up to 5 cm long, much longer than peduncle; seeds with hairy appendage.

- Rare in cultivated fields.

- Not to be confused with: Epilobium ciliatum , Epilobium parviflorum , Epilobium roseum , Epilobium tetragonum subsp. tetragonum .
