Adult plant:

- Height: 10-60 cm.

- Scapes deeply 5-furrowed, with angular ribs between furrows. leaves.

- Leaves in rosette ovate and tapered into a slender and relatively stalk acute at apex, erect, 3-5-nerved.

- Flowers very small, in cylindrical more or less lengthened and glabrous spike. Bracts ovate, acuminate, blackish on the back. Sepals : lateral with a slightly hairy keel. Corolla glabrous ovate-lobed.

- Fruit : capsule 2-seeded, seeds oblong, channelled on the internal side and smooth.

- Plant with aucubin.

- Biological type: perennial.
